Auditions for Steel Magnolias will be held at The Owen Theatre, 225 Metcalf St., Conroe, TX 77301 on September 8 & 9 at 7pm.
Steel Magnolias unfolds in a Louisiana beauty parlor, where a group of Southern women gather for their weekly hair appointments. Through witty banter and gossip, they share their lives, dreams, and struggles. The play centers on Shelby, a young bride-to-be with a chronic illness, and her mother M’Lynn. As Shelby prepares for her wedding and motherhood, her health complications become a growing concern. Despite the humor and camaraderie, the story takes a dramatic turn as Shelby faces a difficult pregnancy. The women of the beauty parlor rally around M’Lynn, offering unwavering support as they all grapple with the possibility of loss. Steel Magnolias is a heartwarming yet poignant tale of female friendship, resilience, and the strength found in community during life’s challenges.
